If you or someone you know has macular degeneration or diabetes, this website is the best ocular nutritional
resource on the internet. All studies are summarized in plain English, but are linked to the actual studies on the National
Institutes of Health website, www.pubmed.org.
Please help us educate the public by sharing this site with your own doctors
and acquaintances to help them keep abreast of the latest studies. Doctors are overwhelmed with information,
and studies like these are not disseminated by the pharmaceutical industry (not too surprisingly!). Feel free to
print out the study pages to share with your physician.
We have investigated different companies and
have included links to reputable sources for superior products, in our opinion. They contain the proper forms
and dosages that have been used in the studies. Sales of products help support keeping this website active.
The information presented on this site is FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY.
According to the FDA, nutritional supplements are not drugs and not designed to treat, cure or mitigate any disease.
They simply support the body's natural healing response. Consult your physician before taking any supplements, modifying
your diet, or changing your medications, since supplements may reduce your medication requirements!
Please
let us know your results so we can post them for others' benefits!

IS THERE
A CURE FOR DIABETES? Medications can only go so far, they either attempt to 1) keep the
liver from producing too much glucose, 2) help the pancreas produce more insulin, 3) make muscle cells more sensitive to insulin,
4) slow digestion of carbohydrates, or 5) increase the circulating insulin by directly injecting insulin. These
do not cure diabetes, but attempt to control it.
Several Gastric surgery procedures have been recently
shown to completely cure Type II diabetes in patients who have had that done. Nutritional supplementation,
like medications, does not cure diabetes, but can help achieve better control of sugar levels and reduce the long
term complications of excessive or fluctuation of blood sugar levels. We provide the science that shows the benefits
of nutraceuticals, with one caveat: Before taking supplements, consult your physician and be sure to monitor your blood
sugar carefully to prevent hypoglycemic crises.
